About Us
Petards Joyce-Loebl have been involved in rugged electronic solutions since 1951
when Dr Herbert Loebl established Joyce-Loebl along with fellow engineering graduate
Robert Joyce.
Much of the technology in the early years were dedicated towards the health and
defence sectors – the latter of which still plays a key role in Petards portfolio
today.
At the end of the cold war, the company made the strategic decision to transfer
the experience and skills it had obtained in rugged electronic solutions for the
defence sector, into more mainstream channels.
Transport and particularly rail applications were the most natural fit, where Petards
have grown to become market leaders in electronic on-board solutions.
Today, the Petards portfolio has grown to also include the global security sector.
Our range of ProVida surveillance solutions are used in over 70% of UK police forces
and in over 20 countries world-wide.
Our ANPR cameras are widely recognised as the leading mobile and fixed solutions
available on the market. Our introduction of new IP Digital and HD ANPR cameras
ensure we remain the preferred choice of ANPR camera provider for hundreds of commercial
and public service operators.
